Job Description
Role Description
This role involves performing financial calculations and ensuring accuracy in claims related to group disability policies.
- Calculates pre-disability earnings, COLAs, deductions, offsets, overpayments, underpayments, and other ongoing financial work in accordance with the provisions in the group disability policies.
- Responsible for the application of policy provisions related to pre- and post-disability financial calculations.
- Provides an ongoing review of claimant return to work earnings calculations.
- Reviews offset coding in the claims payment system for known offsets and adjusts as necessary.
- Reviews and ensures the accuracy of the benefit components in the claims payment systems.
- Reviews documentation and coding for the disability benefit taxability, including FIT, SIT, FICA.
- Demonstrates strong communication around the financial aspect of claims to be available to the Case Managers for calculation explanations.
- Makes Policyholder/Insured calls as necessary and appropriate to obtain missing financial information.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two to five years of work-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field (preferred)
- LTD Group Product Knowledge (preferred)

- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
- Strong customer orientation – focus and desire to provide excellent customer service
