This role manages the daily operations of the Claims business unit, overseeing employees and functional operations while analyzing data and reports to summarize activities and trends. The manager will also develop solutions for complex operational issues, review processes for streamlining, and coordinate overall workflow to enhance service turnaround time, productivity, and quality.

The role involves making timely, accurate, and customer-focused Long-Term Disability claim decisions on moderately to highly complex claims using advanced independent discretion guided by company procedures and regulatory standards. Responsibilities also include documenting claims systems accurately, preparing claim management plans, maintaining empathetic customer service, and collaborating with internal partners.

The Lead acts as the main point of contact for claims-specific questions, mentors new hires, supports training, and ensures case managers use appropriate risk management skills to secure correct claim outcomes. This role involves monitoring KPIs, adjusting workload balancing, providing coaching, and escalating trends or coaching opportunities to leadership.
