Job Description
About Owner.com
Owner is the AI growth system for local restaurants.
Our AI continuously improves SEO, marketing, and online ordering to grow first-party orders. Unlike other companies that force small business owners to master their software to drive sales, Owner gives them a proven system run by experts.
Owner is like having an army of engineers and marketers on your side, just like the big chains.
Our vision
We’re starting by helping independent restaurants succeed online.
But it’s not just restaurants that need our help. Most local businesses are struggling with these same problems. Huge technology corporations are taking their customers, bleeding their profits, and making it hard for them to survive.
Once we nail the solution for restaurants – we’ll scale it into every other local business type.
In the future we envision, tens of millions of local business owners will use our technology to succeed in the digital age.
Our traction
Since 2020, we've generated tens of millions in revenue and processed over half a billion dollars of online orders. 1 in 5 Americans have used an Owner.com website.
More importantly, we’ve helped over 20,000 restaurant owners, and saved them nearly $200 million in fees.
Our team
Our team is now in the low hundreds. We’ve got top talent from the most successful companies in SMB software, including: Shopify, HubSpot, DoorDash, ServiceTitan, Rappi, Faire and Stripe.
We’ll be scaling even faster in 2026 to keep pace with our customer growth.
Where we work
Owner is a remote-first, global company headquartered in San Francisco, with a sales hub in Toronto. For a few of our roles we prioritize in-person collaboration at one of our office locations. Most of our teammates are distributed throughout the globe. Please review the role description and discuss with your recruiter for more details on location!
Why we’re looking for you
We’re looking for a senior engineer who gets excited about operating at real scale — not just shipping a single mobile app, but owning the platform and distribution system behind thousands of them.
Our Guest App powers thousands of branded restaurant apps across iOS and Android, and we ship tens of thousands of releases every month through Apple and Google’s ecosystems.
These apps are a key channel for restaurant owners — a direct way to build customer relationships and avoid expensive third-party delivery fees. We’re building an app experience that can compete with the best third-party apps, but it has to scale across tens of thousands of restaurants (and growing). Behind every release is a complex web of build pipelines, certificates, store workflows, compliance requirements, and operational safeguards — and we’re investing in making this system world-class.
We’re turning our Guest App into a true mobile platform: one that engineers across the company can confidently build on, and one that reliably ships changes to production at massive scale. This role is at the center of that transformation — improving developer experience, strengthening release automation, and increasing distribution reliability across thousands of live apps.
If you’ve ever wanted to own mobile distribution at scale — and build the tooling, guardrails, and automation that make it work — this is that opportunity.
This role is 100% remote and can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada. For San Francisco-based candidates: we have a new HQ in the Presidio for optional in-person collaboration opportunities!
Our Tech Stack
Mobile: React Native (iOS + Android)
Infrastructure & Tooling: Buildkite-driven mobile CI/CD and release automation at scale (iOS on MacStadium, Android on AWS), including store submission workflows and OTA updates.
Backend & Services: Node.js, MongoDB, PostgreSQL
Language: TypeScript everywhere
The impact you will have
Improve our mobile developer experience — from local setup to CI/CD — so engineers across the company can confidently contribute to the Guest App
Build guardrails, tooling, and automation that make shipping changes to thousands of apps safe and reliable
Increase release reliability and app freshness across Apple App Store and Google Play
Strengthen observability, monitoring, and operational workflows to quickly diagnose and resolve issues
Leverage AI tools to build automations at scale across our release and distribution workflows
Partner closely with our internal launch team — power their workflows, hear feedback quickly, and iterate
Contribute directly to the Guest App codebase when platform and product work intersect
Take ownership of cross-cutting technical initiatives from design through production
Provide thoughtful code reviews and technical leadership to raise the bar across the team
Help us build a great team — interview candidates, refer great engineers, and shape engineering culture
What we’re looking for
4+ years of experience building and shipping production applications, including experience owning releases end-to-end
Strong experience with TypeScript
Experience building and maintaining mobile applications (React Native experience is a strong plus)
Experience owning mobile app distribution — including shipping releases through the Apple App Store and/or Google Play, managing build pipelines, release workflows, versioning, and store compliance
Experience improving CI/CD pipelines and automating build and release processes
Track record of increasing release reliability and operational visibility (monitoring, alerting, debugging production issues)
Comfort navigating complex and sometimes opaque external systems (e.g., Apple/Google developer workflows, certificates, provisioning, store review processes, compliance requirements)
Experience at a product-focused startup, scale-up, or technology company
High degree of cross-functional collaboration — past colleagues in product, design, and business would speak highly of your teamwork
Strong sense of ownership and drive, excellent communication, and a proactive approach to identifying and solving ambiguous, cross-cutting problems
Pay and benefits
The estimated starting base salary range for this role is $190K-220K depending on level, location and experience, plus a generous pre-IPO equity package
Other benefits include comprehensive health coverage, work from anywhere (remote-first workplace), unlimited PTO - plus extra fun perks!
