Role Description
The SCADA Engineer Staff III will provide expertise in onsite and remote configuration, programming, and testing of SCADA, Automation and Network equipment for a wide variety of projects including:
- Substations
- Distributed Energy Resources (DERs)
- Large scale renewables including storage, solar and wind projects
- Distribution recloser controllers
- SCADA RTUs, network switches, routers, firewall, and radios
This role will work with the leaders of our P&C Team and a group of specialized protection and control engineers.
Responsibilities
- Attend remote or onsite testing activities throughout the USA, especially Texas
- Configure and Program equipment related to SCADA, Automation, and Network including RTUs, Network Switches, Routers, Firewalls, and HMI
- Perform remote and onsite testing and checkout of the listed equipment
- Program SEL-RTAC for different purposes including substation RTU, EMS, NERC PRC-028 compliance, and microgrid controller
- Program SCADA HMI and other interfaces using SCADA Ignition platform
- Program network switches and routers manufactured by Cisco, Meraki, and SEL
- Design IP and DNP schemes throughout the substation and implement remotely and onsite
- Prepare SCADA point lists and checkout SCADA systems
- Perform site visits to collect data of the SCADA, automation, and network equipment
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or post-secondary diploma in related field
- 3+ years' experience in SCADA and network engineering and onsite work
- Familiar with protection and control drawings including single lines, three lines, DC schematics, panel drawings, wiring diagrams, and bill of material
- Previous experience in troubleshooting SCADA and network settings in the field
- Extensive experience with SEL-RTAC, Cisco, and Meraki equipment
- Experienced in programming firewalls
- Experienced in creating test plans and test procedures
- Experienced in conducting safe work onsite being OSHA and NETA certified
- Ability to work near energized electrical equipment which may also involve extremely tall structures such as distribution poles
- Capable of testing in areas with limited access
- Ability to drive across the USA and hold a valid driver license
- Authorized to work in the USA for at least two years
