Role Description
A premier growing structural building component manufacturer is seeking an experienced Truss Designer to support a high-volume pipeline of Florida residential construction projects. This is a fully remote position, offering the opportunity to work from anywhere while collaborating with a highly experienced design and production team.
This role is ideal for a designer who has strong experience designing single-family residential roof and floor truss systems in Florida, understands the complexities of wind loads, hurricane zones, and Florida building requirements, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
- Design roof and floor truss systems for Florida single-family residential construction
- Interpret architectural plans and structural requirements to produce accurate truss layouts
- Ensure all designs comply with Florida Building Code (FBC) and local jurisdiction requirements
- Utilize MiTek truss design software to produce truss layouts and engineering documentation
- Work closely with sales teams, builders, and production staff to ensure projects move efficiently from design to manufacturing
- Review designs for wind loads, uplift requirements, and structural integrity specific to Florida markets
- Provide technical support to internal teams and customers when needed
Qualifications
- 8+ years of wood truss design experience
- Strong proficiency with MiTek truss design software
- Extensive experience designing single-family residential projects
- Demonstrated experience working on Florida-based projects
- Strong understanding of Florida Building Code, wind zones, and hurricane load requirements
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural plans
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fully remote design environment
