Job Description
Volta Energy Technologies, LLC (“Volta”) is looking for an experienced investment operations professional to join its growing team in its office located in west-suburban Chicago (working remotely considered for the right candidate). Volta is a venture capital investment firm focused on seeking out investment opportunities in companies with cutting-edge, disruptive energy storage and battery technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure Volta collects or creates, and maintains thorough documentation related to Volta’s investments (e.g., portfolio company transaction documents, fund subscription agreements, AUM data, regulatory filings, company-supplied reports, etc.) in a manner that ensures compliance with regulatory, contractual, and internal policy requirements.
- Monitor portfolio company progress (operations and financial performance, milestone tracking, ESG compliance, etc.).
- Oversee the production of quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports for Volta’s investors.
- Serve as primary point of contact with Volta’s fund administrators, accountants, tax professionals, auditors, and banking contacts; and ensure accurate information is provided to and received from such service providers in a timely manner.
- Design, maintain, and oversee Volta’s record management program; ensuring consistency in processes used by Volta for identifying, classifying, storing, securing, retrieving, tracking and destroying or permanently preserving records.
- Assist COO with internal Volta financial administration (budgeting, accounts payable/receivable, bookkeeping, etc.)
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA desirable.
- Minimum of five years’ experience working in a venture capital, private equity, hedge fund or investment consultancy firm in an operations or back-office role; or working for a top-tier fund administrator that services such firms.
- Considerable knowledge of private investment structuring, processes and procedures, documentation, and regulatory/compliance requirements (e.g., fund formation including co-invest vehicles, feeder/blocker funds, AML/KYC practices, SEC filings, ESG reporting, etc.)
- Considerable knowledge of accounting, tax, and audit processes.
- Demonstrated ability to accurately maintain large volumes of records and data, and to produce high-quality accurate reports based on such data.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with proven capability of interfacing with a wide variety of investment professionals.
- Ability to execute and manage multiple projects or tasks in a time critical, transaction-oriented environment.
- Must be legally able to work in the United States.
