Role Description
The Agency Logistics & Operations Manager is a dual-focus leadership role responsible for overseeing a dedicated fleet of owner-operators and managing a high-touch logistics account. This position requires a strategic thinker who can balance the nuances of fleet management safety, compliance, and financial optimization, with the rigorous communication and documentation demands of a primary logistics client. You will serve as the central hub between drivers, Unigroup agents, home office, and the customer, ensuring operational excellence and long-term profitability for all stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in logistics operations, fleet management, or freight brokerage.
- Familiarity with ELD platforms, TMS (Transportation Management Systems), and standard office software.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, specifically the ability to manage high-volume email threads.
- Ability to optimize routes and schedules for financial efficiency.
- Comfortable working in a remote environment while maintaining high levels of accountability and team engagement.
Requirements
- Manage a current fleet of 8 owner operators, serving as their primary point of contact and advocate.
- Lead recruiting efforts to grow the fleet and implement retention strategies to minimize turnover.
- Plan loads to maximize driver miles and revenue; review weekly settlements and order paperwork to ensure accuracy.
- Invest in the financial success of each owner operator, fostering a culture of mutual respect and professional growth.
- Assist with truck rentals and labor coordination to meet client needs.
- Maintain an uncompromising commitment to safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Actively monitor ELD (Electronic Logging Device) data to ensure HOS compliance.
- Oversee equipment maintenance schedules and ensure all driver qualification updates are current.
- Act as the primary lead for a major logistics account, owning the relationship and ensuring high service levels.
- Plan and coordinate the full lifecycle of orders, including pickups, transportation, storage, and final delivery.
- Register and track all orders within the internal system with high attention to detail.
- Manage heavy email volume and documentation requirements with speed and professional clarity.
- Assist Armstrong agents with spot pricing, service inquiries, and operational feasibility.
- Act as the lead troubleshooter for transit delays, equipment issues, or customer service challenges.
