Role Description
Under moderate supervision, The Property Claim Specialist is responsible for handling medium/high complexity commercial property claims. The Specialist will work from the desk and/or in the field, visiting sites where damage has occurred, collecting visual evidence, and assessing the extent of the damage. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including insured parties, claimants, attorneys, and other professionals.
- Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle medium/high complexity property claims, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Conduct thorough inspections of damaged properties, including taking photos, measurements, and samples, and preparing detailed reports of the findings.
- Review and analyze relevant documents, such as policies, contracts, invoices, estimates, and receipts, and verify the coverage, liability, and damages.
- Determine the extent of damage and potential risks or concerns.
- Interpret various policy forms to establish applicable coverages and determine any exclusions.
- Establish appropriate claims reserves and negotiate settlements within authority limits.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with policyholders, agents, contractors, experts, attorneys, and other parties involved in the claim process, and provide timely and accurate updates on the status and resolution of the claims.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in using Property Claims estimating software and other relevant tools.
- Ability to evaluate financial analyses and reserves.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in property claim adjusting, with at least 2 years of experience in handling medium/high complexity property claims.
- Current and valid adjuster license in the state of operation, or the ability to obtain one within a specified time frame.
- Excellent knowledge of property insurance policies, coverages, laws, and regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Able to travel frequently and adjust to changing schedules and work environments.
