Role Description

We are hiring a Senior Hardware Solutions Engineer to join our Hardware Engineering team. This engineer will be responsible for optimizing power consumption on all of our products. This engineer will make an immediate impact by creating a systematic process to optimize power consumption on different hardware solutions projects as well as our main hardware product.

Qualifications

  • Experience reviewing and understanding PCB schematics and layouts. Familiarity with design tools like Altium Designer is a plus.
  • Ability to characterize and analyze power consumption of electronic devices in different operating modes.
  • Experience with hardware testing procedures, including setting up and running tests, collecting data, and analyzing results.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as power meters, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other tools used for electrical characterization and debugging.
  • Proficiency in Python scripting for automating tests and data analysis. Experience with regression testing and building automated test frameworks.
  • Ability to analyze power consumption data, identify trends, and present findings in a clear and concise manner. Experience with documentation tools like Confluence is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including QA and engineering. Strong communication skills for knowledge sharing and documentation.
  • Ability to take initiative, identify problems, and propose solutions. Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of tasks.

Requirements

  • 90 Days at Flock
  • The First 30 Days: Review all relevant designs including schematics, layout, and mechanical designs; Run and begin to own power consumption analysis of all products.
  • The First 60 Days: Define and measure power modes for our core product and other solutions; Define a power tree for our core product and identify pain points in current architectures.
  • 90 Days & Beyond: Partner with QA to track power consumption of products regression testing; Become an SME and support a culture of continuous improvement around power consumption in our product suite.
