Job Description
Role Description
The Department of Economic Security is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Collector 3. This position is responsible for working autonomously within parameters. The Collector 3 locates and communicates with customers for the purpose of soliciting payment or collecting on delinquent accounts on behalf of the Department of Economic Security (DES) via telephone, mail, or personal visit. Using skip-tracking tools and negotiating techniques, this position enforces federal regulations and statutes to advise customers of necessary actions needed for repayment of various public assistance over-payments and other debts, and refers collection cases for judgment, garnishment, or other enforced collection to the Attorney General's office for processing. This position reviews financial statements and makes determinations on ability to pay and amount due; negotiates partial payment plans based on analysis of assets and liabilities; and determines appropriate or alternate courses of action using oral and written communications, automated office devices and systems, and mathematical calculations and analysis of accounts. This position ensures appropriate action is taken on collection cases under appeal and bankruptcy, processes appeal requests and verifies information on bankruptcy cases, and maintains thorough and accurate records of all transactions. The individual in this position trains and may lead Collector 2 positions.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.
The State of Arizona strives for a work culture that affords employees flexibility, autonomy, and trust. Across our many agencies, boards, commissions, many State employees participate in the State's Remote Work Program and are able to work remotely in their homes, in offices, and in hoteling spaces. All work, including remote work, should be performed within Arizona unless an exception is properly authorized in advance.
