Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Axon Architect / Engineer to support a Federal Government Law Enforcement Agency. This position requires a minimum of six (6) years of experience designing, integrating, analyzing, and managing solutions within the Axon public safety technology ecosystem.
This role combines enterprise architecture expertise, advanced systems analysis, and program management capabilities to ensure secure, compliant, and mission-ready digital evidence workflows. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader who can align operational law enforcement requirements with scalable, CJIS-compliant technology solutions in a federal environment.

Job Duties

Architecture & Engineering
- Design and implement end-to-end Axon ecosystem architectures including video ingestion, secure storage, retention enforcement, and digital evidence lifecycle management.
- Architect secure integrations between Axon Evidence and federal Records Management Systems (RMS), Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), and investigative platforms.
- Develop retention schedules and legal hold processes aligned with federal records management statutes and DOJ policies.
- Lead hybrid and secure cloud integration strategies within federal security frameworks (FedRAMP-aligned environments where applicable).
- Oversee device lifecycle management including firmware updates, deployments, and system upgrades.

Systems Analysis & Operational Alignment
- Conduct operational workflow assessments within law enforcement divisions to optimize evidence intake, categorization, sharing, and disclosure processes.
- Analyze storage utilization trends, chain-of-custody metrics, and compliance reporting data.
- Develop executive dashboards and performance metrics to support leadership decision-making.
- Translate investigative and operational requirements into technical solution roadmaps and implementation plans.
- Support federal audits, OIG reviews, legal discovery, and FOIA requests with detailed analytical documentation.

Program & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the technical lead and subject matter expert for Axon initiatives across the agency.
- Manage project timelines, vendor coordination, and cross-functional integration efforts.
- Facilitate requirements workshops with law enforcement leadership, IT security, legal counsel, and compliance offices.
- Develop project documentation including charters, risk registers, mitigation strategies, and lifecycle cost analyses.
- Provide mentorship to administrators and engineers supporting Axon technologies.
- Support budget forecasting, capital planning, and long-term digital evidence strategy.

Security & Compliance Oversight
- Ensure compliance with CJIS, federal cybersecurity directives, NIST frameworks, and agency-specific policies.
- Establish and validate chain-of-custody audit controls and evidentiary integrity processes.
- Oversee identity management integrations including SSO, MFA, and role-based access control (RBAC).
- Conduct risk assessments and implement system hardening recommendations.

Operations & Continuous Improvement
- Provide Tier 3 engineering support and escalation management.
- Develop and maintain architecture diagrams, SOPs, and operational runbooks.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, compliance, and evidentiary transparency.
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of experience architecting and integrating Axon ecosystem technologies in a public safety environment.
- Bachelor’s degree, One-and-one-half (1.5) years of additional experience can substitute for one (1) year of a typical degree program.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting a Federal Law Enforcement Agency.
- Experience with FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, and federal ATO processes.
- PMP, Agile, ITIL, or equivalent project management certifications.
- Security certifications (Security+, CISSP preferred).
- Active Public Trust or ability to obtain a federal security clearance.
