Role Description
This role involves supervising the assigned functional area of billing related operations with a primary focus on ensuring timely, accurate, compliant, and efficient processing of claims.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to protect cash assets.
- Operate within budget limitations and authorized staffing levels.
- Assess employee training needs and coordinate with the training department for appropriate development.
- Initiate and implement improvements to billing systems and processes.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding billing and claims.
- Function as a liaison with providers, external departments, and insurance payors to resolve discrepancies.
- Conduct ongoing evaluation of department policies and procedures to maintain and improve efficiency and performance.
- Adhere to productivity and quality standards and reinforce those standards with team members.
- Perform human resources responsibilities including coaching, performance reviews, and team member engagement.
- Understand and adhere to the Advocate Aurora Health Care Code of Ethical Conduct.
Qualifications
- High School Graduate
- Typically requires 3-5 years of experience in Healthcare.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in patient accounts, medical billing, or collections within a healthcare setting.
- 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience in a billing or accounts receivable department.
- Experience with healthcare regulations, such as HIPAA.
- Hands-on experience with patient billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Requirements
- PC skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Previous experience leading a patient accounting team.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
