Role Description
We are looking for a multidisciplinary Sr Designer to manage the design side of our creative output. You will own the design for our primary data center brand channels: our external website (inc. all content assets), the "Where the Internet Lives" podcast, social channels, and our internal knowledge platforms. You are responsible for shaping and maintaining the visual identity of the brand.
This role is pivotal in building the future of our data center brand. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of brand principles and community intricacies that underpin high-performing, scalable, and resilient data center communities. You will be a key player in the complete lifecycle of our data center projects, from initial concept through to implementation and continuous storytelling.
You are our go-to person for all matters design. We need someone with a creative background who also understands the production process well enough to anticipate problems, but whose primary focus is on an iterative process and execution aligned with business needs.
This Designer will work alongside an award-winning in-house team focused on Google’s AI infrastructure across creative, social, insights, and ops.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Protect the brand: Define, specify, and champion robust brand and community practices, protecting design guidelines for our data center infrastructure.
- Design proposals: Develop and present high-quality design proposals for community engagement, events, KOF meetings, and internal storytelling.
- Own design: Drive design projects and presentations from conceptual design through detailed strategic business alignment, iteration, and final implementation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally: Act as a key technical partner to our brand and community teams. A comprehensive understanding of how our data center communities operate is fundamental. Participate in strategic planning and sprint sessions, contributing new perspectives and innovative ideas for enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of our data center communities.
- Problem-solve proactively: Create detailed concepts, website mockups, technical presentations, and comprehensive brand specifications that ensure a highly reliable and efficient data center brand expression. Take ownership of your assigned projects and be accountable for their quality and successful delivery through proactive problem-solving and diligent follow-through.
- Push boundaries: Drive improvements in the data center design and brand processes for the entire team. Be an integral part of the evolution of our data center brand strategy and infrastructure, working collaboratively with your teammates to push the boundaries of performance and storytelling.
Qualifications
- 7+ years in design, ideally within a tech company or an integrated agency.
- Strong typography and layout skills, and experience with brand guidelines and systems.
- Proficiency with project management software (Asana, Jira, or similar), Figma, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Comfortable with trending tech topics.
- Ability to communicate effectively and hold boundaries while juggling a variety of projects.
