Role Description

The Solution Architect Manager is a senior technical and people leader within IEM’s Application Engineering group. This role oversees a team of Solution Architects and drives the strategic development of power system solutions across industrial, data center, and enterprise applications. The manager ensures technical excellence, fosters innovation, and aligns architectural practices with business goals. This position plays a critical role in mentoring talent, scaling technical capabilities, and enhancing cross-functional collaboration across engineering and commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Management
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Solution Architects.
    • Set performance goals, conduct reviews, and support career development.
    • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Architecture Oversight
    • Guide the development of scalable, standards-compliant power system architectures.
    • Ensure alignment with performance, reliability, and operational objectives.
    • Review and approve high-impact designs and proposals.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Partner with Sales, Product Management, and Engineering to align technical solutions with customer needs.
    • Facilitate communication between technical and commercial stakeholders.
    • Drive resolution of complex technical challenges across disciplines.
  • Pre-Sales & Technical Enablement
    • Support strategic business development efforts with technical leadership.
    • Oversee RFI/RFP responses and ensure high-quality technical documentation.
    • Represent IEM in key customer engagements and industry forums.
  • Innovation & Technology Strategy
    • Champion digital transformation and integration of emerging technologies.
    • Evaluate new tools, platforms, and methodologies to enhance solution delivery.
    • Engage with vendors and industry partners to stay ahead of trends.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (master’s preferred)
  • 8+ years in power system architecture, with 3+ years in leadership role
  • Deep knowledge of UL, IEEE standards, and industry best practices
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage complex projects
  • Strong communication, strategic thinking, and stakeholder engagement skills

Preferred Experience

  • Microgrid and advanced energy applications
  • Power equipment sales or commercial collaboration
  • Innovation leadership and vendor engagement

Workplace Conditions

  • On-site, hybrid, or remote
  • Travel up to 30-50%

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $160,000 - $200,000 per year, based on location, experience, and qualifications.
