Job Description
Role Description
The Senior Benefits Specialist is responsible for managing and administering the organization’s employee benefits programs. This includes health, dental, vision, retirement plans, life insurance, and other supplemental benefits. The role involves ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, enhancing employee engagement through benefit offerings, and continuously evaluating and recommending improvements to the benefits packages.
- Manage day-to-day operations of benefits programs including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
- Ensure accurate benefits records and handle discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state laws such as ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ACA, and HIPAA.
- Prepare and file necessary reports and documents to maintain regulatory compliance.
- Serve as the primary contact for employees regarding benefit inquiries and issues.
- Educate employees about their benefits options and assist during open enrollment periods.
- Manage employee questions through our ticketing system.
- Partake in employee listening sessions.
- Coordinate with benefits vendors to maintain accurate and timely services.
- Evaluate vendor performance and work on issue resolution.
- Analyze benefit programs and identify areas for improvement.
- Recommend new benefits offerings that align with organizational goals and employee needs.
- Prepare reports on benefits usage, costs, and trends.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in benefits administration.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations related to employee benefits.
- Experience with benefits management systems.
- Prior experience in Professional Services ideal.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in HRIS and benefits administration software. Experience with Workday preferred.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
