JOB TITLE: MENTAL HEALTH THERAPIST

DEPARTMENT: Clinical Services

SUPERVISOR: Clinical Director/Clinical Supervisor

FLSA/TYPE: Non exempt

SUPERVISES: None

JOB SUMMARY:

Provide professional mental health services in a community setting, performing assessment and treatment and community outreach to individuals and groups in a culturally competent manner in accord with best treatment practices. 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Follow Willapa Behavioral Health & Wellness Service Excellence Standards / Code of Ethics and Policies and Procedures.

  1. Adhere to rules of confidentiality.
  2. Respect and accommodate a diverse population.
  3. Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients and staff.
  4. Work on-site as necessary or remotely using telehealth technology as determined by management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provide best practice client centered treatment modalities that are kept within Agency philosophy and policies, and within State and County guidelines.
  2. Assist clients in developing their Recovery Plan which includes identifying goals, objectives, strengths, and modes of treatment. Each client will have a service delivery plan developed within 30 days of intake or initial visit with therapist and will be updated every 180 days.
  3. Provide face to face contact with consumers, their families and community supports, unless client driven request for virtual appointment. Submit service reports per productivity guidelines, preferring daily. Meets minimum productivity requirements.
  4. Plan, implement, coordinate treatment to support client mental health. Monitor all documentation activities for assigned clients keeping with Agency philosophy and policies, State and County guidelines.
  5. Participates in clinical, planning, staff, and administration meetings as required. Regularly attends and contributes at meetings. Be in attendance at all meetings promptly 90% of time. 
  6. Participates in liaison activities, with other Agency programs, and with other community agencies.
  7. Utilize available training to continue growth and development of clinical skills. 
  8. Provide client centered care and maintain the highest standards of dignity and respect when interacting with clients, staff and community partners. Keep appointment schedule up to date and accessible to office staff and will keep all appointments within 5 minutes of the appointed time at least 90% of the time. Return all phone calls within the next business day.

Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. B.A. degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field, and certification as a mental health professional
  2. Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field. 
  3. A minimum of at least 2 years postgraduate in the mental health field.
  4. Experience in providing counseling services to individuals and groups.
  5. Able to maintain good rapport with co-workers.
  6. Demonstrate competency in working with people with mental illness.
  7. Demonstrate ability to do differential diagnosis using DSM-V.
  8. Knowledge of and skill with using evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
  9. Ability to do crisis intervention and ITA investigation.
  10. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, computer proficiency to document in the electronic medical record (EMR) and utilize telehealth and Microsoft office suite. 
  11. Undergo and pass criminal background check upon initial employment and any subsequent checks required by the agency.
  12. Meet requirements of agency’s drug free workplace policy.
  13. Excellent customer service with a client focus.
  14. Able to sit, stand and move for long hours at a time and lift up to 25 pounds.
  15. A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
  16. Able to drive in daylight, darkness, and typical Northwest weather conditions.
  17. Flexible to fill-in shifts if needed. 
  18. Meet the current Washington health care vaccination requirements for health care workers.

Salary:  $27.00-$33.00 hourly
