Job Description

About Unreal

We're on a mission to unjunk the world, starting with our favorite food group: CHOCOLATE.

Our story began when two kids who loved candy got tired of being told they couldn't eat it. All their favorites were filled with artificial ingredients, excess sugar, and stuff they couldn't pronounce. Why did something that tasted so good have to be so bad for them? OR DID IT?

That question inspired our mission: to unjunk the world. Unreal was born, and it sparked a ripple of change. With real, simple ingredients, no artificial anything, way less sugar, and unbelievable taste, those kids proved that better was possible (and, well, better).

Today, we're shaking up an old-school industry, winning over a devoted fanbase, and showing up on more and more shelves every day.

Job Summary

The Manager, Procurement is responsible for guiding the selection, negotiation and maintenance of relationships with key ingredient suppliers. This role will leverage industry insights to execute a strategy targeted at obtaining high-quality, low-cost ingredients which support Unreal’s product portfolio. This role will lead the strategic sourcing process and associated projects for ingredient categories, including but not limited to sourcing events and negotiation, supplier onboarding, and execution of cost savings and risk mitigation projects. While critical in setting the commodities strategy of tail ingredients, this individual will manage supplier performance and evaluate needs for supplier diversity.

The Manager, Procurement will be a vital member of the Unreal Procurement team and report directly to the Director of Procurement. This is a remote position, with approximately 10-25% travel required within North America.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop, advocate, and implement sourcing strategies for assigned commodities to achieve short and long-term objectives, working closely with related internal stakeholders
  • Provide market analysis for category supply and demand dynamics in order to have a thorough category knowledge and the impact to Unreal
  • Manage relationships with suppliers, including performance management, opportunity/risk identification, and proposed next steps
  • Lead strategic sourcing efforts to establish an alternate supplier portfolio that will ensure supply contingency plans are in place and prevent supply interruptions
  • Translate Unreal growth plans, evaluating if needs can be fulfilled from current supply network or where supplier diversity is required
  • Develop and implement procurement projects to deliver added value, new ingredient opportunities, cost savings, and quality improvements
  • Perform internal monthly reviews of usage vs. forecast, supplier performance, costs, and quality to identify risks and opportunities and propose next steps
  • Reduce complexity in the supply chain by supporting the onboarding and use of blanket suppliers across the co-manufacturer network
  • Support innovation through the sourcing, selection, negotiation, and onboarding of new suppliers, while balancing quality, safety, agility, and cost

Who You Are

  • 3-5 years of progressive business experience in supply chain & procurement management
  • Experience managing ingredients is required
  • Proven experience in the procurement and project management functions, with success in driving value through cost savings, process and quality improvements, and product diversification
  • Experience managing supplier relationships and demonstrated success in contract negotiations
  • Experience in the development and tracking of supplier performance, which includes and is not limited to:
    • Regular business reviews
    • Performance scorecard tracking and action plans for performance improvement
    • Business continuity planning
    • Issues and/or dispute solving and corrective actions
  • Is comfortable working at 10,000 feet and rolling up sleeves to work at a 1 ft level when needed
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • NetSuite & SIQ experience is a plus
