Job Description

At Pencil, we are driving innovation in advertising technology through our state-of-the-art SaaS product, which harnesses Generative AI to redefine content creation. Our mission is to make AI the default in advertising without replacing creative people. To achieve this, we need to make sure that our technology isn’t just in the hands of big brands - we need to try to help small businesses and creative individuals too.

We are looking for a GenAI Creative Director with a strong background in enterprise advertising to lead creative delivery using the Pencil platform and modern GenAI workflows.  This role goes beyond generating content. The GenAI Creative Director will design and lead agentic and nodal creative workflows that connect insights, concepts, and outputs into scalable systems. Using custom agents and structured workflows, you will help enterprise brands move from idea to execution with speed, consistency, and strategic clarity.

You will work closely with Creative Producers, Creative Strategists, Customer Success teams, and clients to understand marketing challenges and translate them into effective GenAI-enabled creative systems.

The ideal candidate combines deep advertising experience with strong system thinking, and understands how to use agents, prompts, and workflows to produce creative work that is both scalable and strategically grounded in data and insights.

  • Design and oversee creative delivery using agentic and nodal workflows, connecting insights, concepts, copy, imagery, and video into scalable creative systems that produce high-quality advertising outputs for enterprise clients.

  • Work closely with Creative Producers and Creative Strategists to understand client challenges and translate them into effective GenAI-enabled creative solutions for brands across global markets, particularly around EU and US.

  • Develop and implement custom agents and structured workflows that automate repeatable creative tasks, enabling teams to produce consistent and scalable outputs while maintaining strong creative quality.

  • Lead and guide GenAI Designers, Creators, and Art Directors through the full creative process—from insight development and concept creation to copywriting, image and video generation, and final creative assembly.

  • Act as a GenAI and Pencil platform expert in client discussions, helping teams and clients understand the capabilities of GenAI while managing expectations around what the technology can and cannot achieve.

  • Collaborate with distributed creative teams across EU and Asia time zones, ensuring strong coordination, clear timelines, and effective project delivery.

  • Support the company’s broader enablement mission by sharing workflows, techniques, and learnings openly with internal teams through walkthroughs, demos, documentation, and recordings.

  • Work closely with Training, Customer Success, and Sales teams to help unblock teams and clients, ensuring they can successfully adopt GenAI workflows and deliver creative work using the Pencil platform.

  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to test new GenAI features, workflows, and agents, providing structured feedback to improve the platform and ensure it supports real-world creative needs.

  • Where necessary, intervene directly in creative execution—refining outputs, improving prompts, or adjusting workflows—to ensure work meets the quality expectations of global brands.

Please be prepared to showcase your portfolio!

  • 10+ years experience in advertising creative development, ideally working with global enterprise brands in EU or US markets.

  • Strong background as a Creative Director or Art Director in advertising, with proven ability to translate strategy into compelling creative work.

  • Hands-on experience using GenAI tools for advertising production, including image, video, and copy generation. (e.g. Firelfy, Imagen, Nano Banana)

  • Experience designing or working with agentic workflows, automation systems, or nodal creative workflows. (e.g. Weavy, ComfyUI)

  • Strong understanding of how to connect insights, data, and audience understanding to creative outputs.

  • Experience leading distributed creative teams and managing projects across multiple time zones.

  • Comfortable presenting ideas and capabilities to clients, and acting as a trusted creative and technology advisor.

  • Strong collaboration skills when working with product, engineering, training, and customer success teams.

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud and modern creative production tools.

  • Excellent written and spoken English.

  • A collaborative and open mindset, with a commitment to sharing knowledge and improving creative workflows across the team.

  • 25 days PTO plus public holidays, although we operate a Flexible Time Off scheme

  • Health insurance / private medical cover

  • Monthly stipend towards wellness, fitness, and learning and development

  • Remote - work from anywhere in your home country

  • Enhanced parental leave policies, whether you become a parent through birth, adoption or surrogacy

  • Flexible working hours
