Job Description

• The Finance Associate will report to the Associate Director of Finance. • The Finance Associate is a key member of the Finance & Grants team within the larger Finance & Facilities Department at ClimateWorks. • Reviewing grantee financial documents (including financial statements and organizational budgets) to ensure that grantees are financially healthy, flagging any concerns to the Senior Director, Finance. • Verifying completeness of grantee financial reporting and coordinating with grantees and the Grants Team on incomplete reports. • Contributing to an effective grantmaking forecast and monitoring spenddown on ending funding sources. • Assisting with quarterly collection and analysis of time estimates. • Working with the team to ensure accuracy of information in ClimateWorks’ budget and reporting system, Adaptive. • Aiding in the development and improvement of team systems, including Adaptive and the new Grants Management System, and team processes. • Providing ad-hoc financial analysis, as needed. • Contributing to the work and priorities of the Finance & Grants Team, as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; course work or work experience in Finance or Accounting.
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Familiarity with general accounting and financial principles, including reading financial statements and budgeting.
  • Experience maintaining a database.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills, with ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow through on open issues and work effectively with a diverse group of staff, partners and vendors in a service-oriented manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Commitment to the mission of the ClimateWorks Foundation.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently (both virtually and in-person) with minimal supervision.
