Role Description

  • Promotes Company Core Values to foster and safeguard family-centric culture.
  • Responds to bid specifications, writing scope of work, developing cost estimates, predicting the duration of the project, and including contingencies.
  • Estimates the amount and type of material required to deliver the bid specification.
  • Provides complete project engineering and estimating labor.
  • Ensures timely completion of and meets bid schedules and deadlines.
  • Recommends vendors and materials to obtain best solution, most competitive price, and proper lead-times.
  • Reads and understands blueprints and performs takeoff to determine quantities.
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Obtains knowledge on other technologies, as directed by customer demand.
  • Contributes to product selection research, configuration standards, and best practices.
  • Identifies cost/schedule risk analysis to forecast contingencies.
  • Establishes and maintains a program that identifies and quantifies project labor hour forecasts.
  • Prepares and issues schedule analysis narratives including recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Applies practical field experience with planning/scheduling knowledge to identify challenges to the project schedule and suggest mitigation plans.
  • Advises project management of cost and cumulative impact of proposed design or construction changes.
  • Supports procurement by preparing cost analysis for subcontractor pricing to determine whether pricing is fair and reasonable.
  • Coaches, mentors, and guides project controls staff in project controls fundamentals, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Communicates through visual reporting and analytics with external stakeholders.
  • Identifies and communicates key cost issues to project/construction and operations management in a timely manner to allow corrective action to be implemented.
  • The individual in this role should be able and willing to travel as required by E2 Optics.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, BS or AA in Accounting, Finance, Business, Engineering, or related Professional Experience.
  • Leadership, coaching, and transferring knowledge approach.
  • Spreadsheet and cost performance tracking is a must.
  • In-depth knowledge in the Project Controls aspects.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience estimating large scale new commercial construction projects including mission critical data centers and structure cable projects.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience with increasing responsibility or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Resource and cost loaded construction schedule development.
  • EVM (Earned Value Management) reporting.
  • Knowledge of Agile Construction Management is highly preferred.
  • Competency with MS Office, Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Bluebeam for all takeoffs of digital drawings.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project).
  • Must prove ability to design, engineer, estimate, and develop a written and graphic representation of the company's proposed solutions utilizing the software resources provided by the company.
  • Able to multi-task and meet strict deadlines.
  • Impeccable problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated detail orientation.
  • Proficient with reading and understanding digital blueprints of building floor plans and construction designs.
  • Demonstrated and effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to work in teams and foster confidence in all.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The standard work environment for this position is an indoors business office and construction environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk or hear, use hands, stoop, kneel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must regularly carry and climb ladders to 20 feet. Must be able to operate equipment such as scissor lifts, telehandlers, boom lifts, and UTVs (buggies) if required to do so. The employee may also be required to work in tight, confined spaces. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
