This role offers the opportunity to lead the design of immersive, player-focused game experiences, guiding a team from concept to global release. As Lead Game Designer, you will shape core game systems, mechanics, and features, ensuring they deliver depth, engagement, and business impact. You will mentor and coach design team members, establish effective workflows, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to implement and iterate on design solutions. The position requires a strong understanding of free-to-play (F2P) and live-operations games, player psychology, and game economies. You will be responsible for translating complex design challenges into actionable insights while maintaining high standards of quality, creativity, and player satisfaction. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for someone passionate about building games where players feel a true sense of belonging.

  • Lead the design and development of game features, systems, and mechanics from prototyping through production and launch.
  • Mentor and coach the design team, providing clear direction, feedback, and professional growth opportunities.
  • Craft detailed design proposals, specifications, and documentation to communicate objectives, desired player behaviors, and implementation guidelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and live operations, to ensure successful feature execution.
  • Analyze player feedback, testing data, and metrics to refine and iterate on game systems and balance.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert on game mechanics, player experience, and genre-specific trends, sharing insights across the product organization.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in free-to-play (F2P) games, games-as-a-service, or live operations with a track record of delivering successful titles.
  • Deep knowledge of game systems, metagame design, game economies, and player psychology.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience guiding multi-disciplinary design teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to synthesize feedback from multiple sources into actionable design decisions.
  • Ability to articulate abstract design concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Passion for staying current with industry trends and applying insights to enhance game design and player engagement.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating impactful design contributions and leadership in shipped games.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience and location.
  • Remote-first work model with flexible scheduling.
  • Generous PTO and holiday schedule.
  • Parental leave and comprehensive healthcare options.
  • Retirement programs and opportunities for professional development.
  • Opportunity to work in a collaborative, inclusive, and creative environment focused on player and team belonging.
  • Direct impact on high-profile games and the ability to shape studio-wide design practices.
