Job Description
Role Description
DEPT is transitioning to an AI-first company, centralising its proprietary solutions under the Future of Work program. The program's mission is to enable talent to compete in the age of AI by upskilling people, enhancing workflows, and automating repetitive tasks to achieve pioneering customer growth.
Currently, we're seeking a dynamic Technical Product Manager to drive growth and innovation that will be leveraged to deliver a significant majority of DEPT’s client work. We are seeking a freelancer for four months.
As a Technical Product Manager, you'll spearhead strategic growth and technical excellence. You'll blend technical data expertise with product management mastery to proactively identify opportunities, develop innovative solutions, and elevate our technical solutions.
A key part of your role is to translate business requirements and loosely documented visions into actionable development tasks. You'll bridge technical, creative, and business teams, ensuring seamless collaboration.
The internal product you will be working on is an essential component of the day-to-day of Paid Media & Marketing teams workflows. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of paid media and digital marketing campaign development (or has experience working in digital marketing environments) alongside extensive experience in product development.
Responsibilities
- Strategic product ownership
- Work with the Senior Product Manager and Tech Lead to develop the product vision, strategy, and roadmaps.
- Product development
- Interface with business and broader platform stakeholders to understand their use cases, motivations, and goals - in order to translate into data requirements.
- Lead discovery and requirement gathering for new data inputs.
- Translate briefs into actionable development tasks.
- Oversee the scoping of data components, and ensure they fully align with the business needs, whilst also being clearly laid out for the implementation team to follow.
- Own the technical proposal pipeline, leveraging short-term gains with long-term business goals to make strategic decisions over prioritisation of functionality.
- Technical expertise
- Lead discussions with downstream consumers and stakeholders from various disciplines on technology - for scoping, validation and risk mitigation.
- Become an expert in product functionality, and a pioneer of the product to stakeholders internally and externally. Serve as the technical SME.
- Product innovation
- Define and manage roadmaps and leverage emerging technologies.
- Collaborate with data and engineering on feasibility and execution.
- Investigate APIs and 3rd parties as part of product functionality (not technical feasibility).
- Lead conversations with partners for 3rd party integration.
- Stakeholder engagement
- Act as one of the primary technical liaisons for internal stakeholders.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships by presenting complex solutions clearly.
- Translate requests from the business or downstream consumers into data requirements.
- Operational excellence
- Support QBRs, RFPs, and internal business requirement collection.
- Help to determine task priority and urgency.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of product management, product marketing, business development, or technology experience.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Proven experience in technical product management or a similar role.
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Expertise in cloud platform architecture (GCP a plus) and marketing operations is a plus.
- Experience working with data engineers and analysts, supporting data solutions or warehouses is a plus.
Benefits
- Rate is dependent on experience. We can consider candidates up to $150 hourly.
- This is a short term need for four months.
