You will leverage your knowledge of hospital finance operations—including financial processes, organizational structure, and workflows—to evaluate current-state performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend actionable solutions.
Success in this role requires strong analytical capabilities, a deep understanding of hospital financial operations, and the ability to build credibility quickly with client finance leaders through thoughtful analysis and practical recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Lead assessments of hospital finance functions, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and revenue/expense management processes.
- Evaluate finance department structure, processes, controls, and workflows to identify operational inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify performance issues, cost drivers, and opportunities to improve financial outcomes.
- Develop practical recommendations and implementation roadmaps to improve financial performance, operational efficiency, and governance.
- Present findings and recommendations to hospital finance leadership, including CFOs and senior executives.
- Build trusted relationships with client finance teams by demonstrating expertise, professionalism, and practical insight into hospital finance operations.
- Support client initiatives to improve financial processes, reporting, and decision-making capabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional consulting teams to deliver high-quality project outcomes for healthcare clients.
- Contribute to the development of methodologies, tools, and best practices related to hospital finance assessments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- 8–15+ years of relevant experience in hospital or healthcare finance.
- Prior experience as a Hospital Controller, Assistant/Associate Vice President of Finance, or similar leadership role within a hospital or health system OR experience as a Manager or Senior Manager in healthcare audit or advisory services at a consulting or public accounting firm.
- Strong understanding of hospital finance operations, including general accounting, financial reporting, budgeting/forecasting, and financial controls.
- Experience analyzing financial performance and identifying operational improvement opportunities within healthcare organizations.
Skills and Competencies
- Deep knowledge of hospital finance department structures, processes, and workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including financial and operational data analysis.
- Ability to quickly assess complex environments and identify actionable improvement opportunities.
- Strong executive communication skills with the ability to present insights and recommendations clearly to senior leadership.
- Credibility and professionalism to engage effectively with hospital CFOs and finance leaders.
- Collaborative team leader who can work effectively in consulting engagement environments.
- Growth mindset and interest in expanding capabilities within a rapidly growing healthcare consulting practice.
