Role Description

This role is responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimizing cloud-based infrastructure while ensuring robust DevOps and IT security practices. The Senior DevOps Engineer will manage and enhance CI/CD pipelines, software build systems, and cloud deployment processes, with a focus on reliability, scalability, and compliance. Acting as a technical leader within a specialized team, this position directly supports software development and operational excellence, including ISO 27001 and corporate security initiatives. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams across product, development, and operations to deliver high-quality software solutions in a dynamic, research-driven environment. This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge scientific software and cloud technologies while mentoring and influencing engineering standards.

• Maintain and enhance cloud-based infrastructure, ensuring security, scalability, and reliability.
• Operate and optimize CI/CD pipelines, build servers, and software release processes for cross-platform desktop and HPC applications.
• Manage software licensing systems and related backend services to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
• Lead IT security initiatives, including ISO 27001 compliance and corporate security implementations.
• Configure and manage AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, ECR, IAM, WAF, CloudFront, CloudTrail, and Security Lake.
• Support operational tooling and administration for various cloud and productivity services (e.g., GitHub, Mailchimp, Office).
• Collaborate with software engineers, researchers, and cross-functional teams to deploy and maintain high-quality software solutions.
• Identify areas for automation, system improvements, and process optimization to enhance performance and security.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience in IT infrastructure, DevOps, or software development.
• Strong expertise in AWS cloud infrastructure and services.
• Proven experience with CI/CD pipelines, software build systems, and version control management.
• Knowledge of IT security best practices and compliance frameworks, particularly ISO 27001.
• Experience supporting software development environments, including HPC and cross-platform applications.
• Familiarity with programming/scripting in C++ and Python for CI automation and operations.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and collaboration skills with the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills, comfortable acting as a technical point of contact for complex engineering and security topics.
• Experience in scientific, computational, or research software environments is highly desirable.
