About the Role
The Sr. Director, AI Center of Excellence (CoE), leads Alight's enterprise AI strategy and delivery. This leader brings together platform engineering, product management, and solution development to create an environment where teams across the organization can safely, confidently, and creatively use Generative and Agentic AI at scale.
You will guide the full lifecycle of AI enablement-from platform evaluation and standards, through intake and prioritization, to delivery and long‑term operations. This role oversees the Core Platform team, AI Factory delivery teams, and the CoE Management function, fostering a culture rooted in collaboration, inclusion, continuous learning, and responsible AI.
Responsibilities
Core Platform Team - Foundation & Enablement
- Builds the platforms, standards, and reusable components that make AI development safe, scalable, and consistent.
- Focus areas include enterprise AI platforms (AWS Bedrock, IBM Watson), responsible AI practices, reference architectures (RAG, vector search, agents), API/integration patterns, and production excellence through CI/CD, IaC, monitoring, and cost optimization.
- Set the vision, operating model, and roadmap for Alight's AI capabilities.
- Mentor leaders across engineering, product, and operations.
- Champion responsible innovation, speed, and thoughtful risk management
AI Factory Teams - Solution Delivery
- Delivers practical and sustainable AI solutions using a consistent, repeatable model.
- Teams work in flexible pods, partner closely with stakeholders, and execute through discovery → prototype → MVP → production → scale-always aligned to CoE standards, business value, and long‑term maintainability.
- Ensure Factory teams deliver high‑quality, production‑ready solutions.
- Drive adoption, measurable value, and clear ownership models.
CoE Management Team - Intake & Operations
- Ensures predictable, transparent CoE operations.
- This includes intake and prioritization, capacity and resource planning, cost models, delivery estimates, and portfolio‑level reporting on progress, value, and financial health.
- Lead enterprise AI platform strategy (AWS Bedrock, IBM Watson).
- Create standards, guardrails, and architectures that enable safe, repeatable AI development.
- Promote reuse, consistency, and responsible AI across initiatives.
- Provide visibility into demand, capacity, cost, and value delivered.
- Support informed investment and prioritization decisions.
- Improve efficiency, predictability, and cost‑effectiveness.
Product Management Partnership
- Embedded product leaders define platform roadmaps, translate business needs into clear requirements, and partner with engineering and delivery to ensure measurable outcomes.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in engineering, platform, or similar technical leadership roles
- 5+ years leading multi‑team or cross‑functional organizations
- Experience scaling enterprise platforms or delivery models
- Understanding of Generative/Agentic AI development patterns
- Experience operating secure, reliable production systems
- Ability to turn complex problems into clear, actionable plans
