About SafelyYou

SafelyYou’s passionate mission is to empower safer, more person-centered care across senior living through world-leading AI, industry-changing hardware, and remote expert clinicians, significantly improving outcomes for residents while increasing peace of mind for families and reducing costs for communities.

Originating in 2015 as the doctoral research of CEO George Netscher—and inspired by his own family's experience with Alzheimer's disease—SafelyYou was spun out of UC Berkeley’s Artificial Intelligence Research Lab, one of the top five AI research groups in the world. And today, our company is solving critical challenges in senior living, from resident falls and ER visits to staffing concerns, length of stay, and NOI. All helping ensure that communities can focus on improved care for residents while still reaching their financial goals.

SafelyYou is one of five most innovative fall technologies referenced in the Senate Falls Report (2019), a winner of the McKnight’s Tech Partner of the Year, and has been named to Fortune’s Impact 20 list, which recognizes companies making people’s lives better through innovation.

Your Role at SafelyYou

SafelyYou is seeking a dedicated and execution-focused Network Solutions Engineer passionate about making a positive impact on people living with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. In this role, you'll take ownership of deploying, configuring, and supporting our on-premise equipment within customer facilities while ensuring seamless integration with their existing network infrastructure. Your primary responsibilities will include overseeing installations, providing technical support, and ensuring the stability of deployed systems. This role demands a deep understanding of customer networks, proactive troubleshooting skills, and exceptional communication to bridge technical solutions with customer needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the installation, configuration, and activation of SafelyYou’s on-premise equipment within customer environments.

  • Ensure integration and compatibility with customers’ existing network infrastructure, including dependency on their LAN/WLAN systems.

  • Assist with sensor installations and conduct end-to-end testing to verify readiness for production.

  • Configure and maintain “out-of-band” access infrastructure for remote troubleshooting and support.

  • Document deployment processes and configurations to ensure consistency and scalability.

  • Act as a technical liaison to customers, providing expertise in deploying and troubleshooting network-dependent systems.

  • Be knowledgeable in testing and working with various firewall vendors to set up the specific ports and domains required for SafelyYou services to operate. This includes ensuring all required traffic is permitted and successfully reaching the device level.

  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to LAN, WLAN, VLANs, and IP routing. A core responsibility is evaluating inherently non-performant customer networks and recommending specific configuration changes to improve overall stability.

  • Provide professional and clear communication to customers during technical support interactions, both written and verbal.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine processes and improve the customer experience.

  • Review WiFi site surveys and RF data to identify and mitigate common performance issues such as interference and high channel utilization. You must demonstrate an understanding of how specific wireless configuration adjustments impact device performance and roaming behavior.

  • Leverage Linux system management skills to monitor system health, perform root cause analysis by examining device-level system logs (including embedded operating systems like Yocto), and resolve complex hardware or wireless connectivity issues.

  • Utilize tools like SSM, Docker, and Grafana for system diagnostics and performance analysis.

  • Maintain SLA requirements for service uptime and implement metrics to improve quality and stability.

  • Participate in the on-call rotation for critical issues and assist the Tier 1 support team with escalations.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven experience in deploying on-premise equipment with dependency on customer network infrastructure.

  • Minimum 8+ years of related work experience in network engineering, with a strong focus on wireless optimization, system deployments, and integrating proprietary hardware into highly diverse customer networks.

  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure, including DHCP, VLANs, NAT, static routing, and firewall rule provisioning. Must be comfortable discussing port requirements and security policies with external network administrators.

  • Hands-on experience with Linux system management, including network interface configuration and troubleshooting.

  • Proficiency in assessing and integrating with customer network security and compliance protocols.

  • Deep, practical understanding of 802.11 wireless standards. The candidate must know how to interpret survey data to drive performance improvements and have a firm grasp on client roaming mechanics within complex environments.

  • Ability to communicate technical solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Highly skilled in diagnosing network-dependent system issues. This includes a strong, practical understanding of DNS for troubleshooting connectivity and ensuring reliable name resolution for critical infrastructure.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality in deployment and support processes.

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment with minimal supervision.

  • Proficient in documenting processes and SOPs to drive operational excellence.

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification or equivalent experience is preferred.

  • Understanding of automating workflows using scripts (e.g., Python, Ansible).

  • Previous project management experience is a plus.

  • Obsession with service quality and availability, with a proactive approach to resolving challenges.

  • Customer-focused mindset with a passion for delivering exceptional service.

  • Adaptable and solutions-driven, thriving in dynamic and evolving environments.
