Role Description
ECS is seeking an Automation Equipment Operations Project Manager to work remotely out of the Postal Merrifield HQ. The individual is required to have extensive Postal equipment and maintenance background with the ability to coordinate activities amongst stakeholders on-site.
- Coordinate and oversee daily site activities and ensure accountability across all personnel
- Serve as the primary on-site project manager
- Direct and oversee cross-functional teams, assign priorities and ensure work is executed according to scope, schedule, and operational standards
- Provide hands-on support and technical guidance during equipment installations and removals
- Monitor progress against project plans and update tracking tools to reflect accurate status
- Communicate timely status updates, risks, and mitigation plans to program managers
- Identify, escalate, and resolve program related issues
- Provide structured status updates, risk assessments, and mitigation plans to the USPS Program Manager
- Advise on maintenance timelines, resource requirements, and equipment readiness
- Prepare site visit summaries, progress reports, and presentations
- Develop, edit, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and related documentation
- The contractors shall perform all necessary administrative services to enable the satisfactory and timely completion of all tasks
- Provide specific task deliverables on time in conformance with contract specifications and generally accepted business practices
Deliverables
- Accurate and timely project schedule updates and task lists
- Site status reports and risk/issues logs
- Technical assessments of equipment condition and operational readiness
- Prepare program presentations and summary reports
- Create and update SOPs and documented process improvements
Qualifications
- This position requires up to 100% travel. Candidate must be willing and able to travel as required to support multiple locations nationwide. Extended stays at project sites will be required based on program needs.
- Must have technical knowledge of postal mail processing and support systems
- Strong understanding of industrial automation systems and material handling equipment
- Experience coordinating multiple tasks and personnel in a structured project environment
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to speak and write at the level of complexity appropriate to the audience.
- Ability to work independently and manage cross-functional teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Teams and Outlook
- Obtain a sensitive USPS security clearance for all personnel assigned to the contract
- Experience maintaining postal mail processing equipment
Salary Range
$120,000 - $150,000
