The Role
We’re hiring a Director of Business Affairs to own our business growth—monetization strategy, ad sales focus, sponsorship expansion, contract renegotiation, and new revenue development (e.g., paid membership/premium offerings). This person will also lead business planning and coordinate core business operations with corporate ownership, including evaluation of and leading expansion into new business lines, offerings, services, and verticals. Additionally, this role will serve as a writing and publishing back-up to the primary journalist to ensure continuity of our daily news cadence.

- Operations: business plan/targets, KPI tracking, coordinate invoicing/accounting/taxes/contracts with ownership
- Growth & Product: evaluate tech to expand distribution; test premium membership or services; evaluate new offerings, platforms, or other forms of engagement to expand site visitor-ship and capture readership and customers
- Editorial Backup (as needed): write/edit daily headline posts and send the email newsletter when the primary journalist is unavailable; maintain publishing SOP and backup templates
Job Requirements
- 5+ years in business ops, media monetization, ad sales/sponsorships, or B2B commercial roles
- Comfortable packaging and selling newsletter/site sponsorships and sponsored content
- Strong operational rigor and analytics mindset (KPIs, forecasting, process)
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with prevalent AI platforms and automation tools to improve operational efficiency (e.g., generative AI copilots, workflow automation, CRM/marketing automation, and analytics/BI tools).
- Strong writing, editing, and judgment—able to match publication tone and deliver accurate daily headlines and articles on deadline when needed
- High integrity working alongside editorial leadership in a trusted publication
