Role Description
We are seeking a Director, Business Development, to drive our business development of peptide discovery technologies. This position will be responsible for the end-to-end management of out-licensing our peptide discovery platform.
- Focus on growing our presence in key biotech clusters to gain access to industry leaders and enhance our reputation.
- Facilitate licensing transactions, guiding them from initial outreach through deal execution and client relationship management.
- Collaborate with our Sciences, Legal, Finance, and Executive teams.
- Reports to our VP, Business Development and Strategy.
- Remote opportunity based out of the United States with up to 30% travel and occasional meetings at OmniAb’s headquarters in Emeryville, CA.
- Full-time position, working hours generally within 8am-5pm PT.
Qualifications
- PhD or MSc in Biology, Chemistry, Physics or related field.
- Alternatively, MBA combined with BSc in a related field.
- 8+ years of full-time experience in a life sciences industry role.
- 5-7 years of client-facing business development experience in peptide technologies, antibody therapeutic technologies or a similar field is required.
- Must have 2+ years of experience selling peptide discovery technologies.
- Strong understanding of peptide-based drug discovery, development, and partnering processes.
- Experience with peptide synthesis, peptide therapeutics, or peptide screening platforms.
- Proven ability to build and manage relationships with biotech and pharma stakeholders.
- Ability to assess and negotiate critical issues in executing deals.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with a confident, humble approach.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and CRM tools.
- Strong team player with experience working in cross-functional environments.
Requirements
- Establish rapport with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to develop depth of knowledge in the OmniAb platform.
- Source strategic collaboration opportunities through independent, company-specific research and attend industry partnering meetings/scientific conferences.
- Establish rapport with potential partners and deliver a tailored, persistent approach to creating relationships.
- Work collaboratively with various organizations within the company to progress licensing activities.
- Analyze, prioritize and execute partnering problem solving and negotiation strategy.
- Coordinate CDAs, term sheets, license agreements, and other licensing transaction documents.
- Maintain database to track partnering activities and provide regular status updates.
- Stay up to date with the latest science and literature, industry events and competitive landscape relating to peptide technologies.
- Assist R&D team in crafting messaging and related materials for partnering presentations as required.
- Contribute to other strategic initiatives or duties as required.
