Role Description
This role provides a strategic opportunity to drive enterprise growth in the life sciences sector by acquiring new business and expanding existing client relationships. The Life Sciences Business Development Director will work cross-functionally with marketing, operations, program management, and senior leadership to deliver a customer-centric sales approach that generates measurable revenue impact.
- Define territory plans, engage with key accounts, respond to RFPs, and close high-value deals
- Emphasize independent decision-making, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence stakeholders across global teams
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with life sciences clients, ensuring a positive customer experience and long-term engagement
- Create and execute territory, account, and opportunity plans in collaboration with internal teams
- Prepare RFPs, SOWs, quotes, and other sales documentation while ensuring accurate administrative follow-through
- Track and manage customer data, sales forecasts, pipelines, and activities in Salesforce or similar CRM platforms
- Collaborate with global teams to define value propositions, service offerings, and sales strategies for new and existing clients
- Drive the sales process from lead generation through opportunity qualification, negotiation, and deal closure
- Travel as required (approximately 30%) to meet clients and attend industry events
- Align internal and external expectations with specific deliverables to ensure successful outcomes
Qualifications
- 3+ years of enterprise-level B2B sales experience in professional services or technology solutions targeting Fortune 500 and mid-market clients
- Proven experience in life sciences or a related industry, with knowledge of the sector’s business dynamics and client needs
- Track record of consistently achieving $2M+ in new business annually for at least two consecutive years
- Strong proficiency in customer-centric sales methodology and solution selling
- Demonstrated ability to structure, negotiate, and close multi-million-dollar accounts
- Excellent communication, persuasion, and negotiation skills, with the ability to gain buy-in for innovative projects
- Strong analytical skills and comfort with data-driven decision-making, financial, and operational analysis
- Results-oriented, commercially minded, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field
