About the Team


Our mission as the Communications product team is to build and optimize an omnichannel communication platform that determines the content, channel, and timing of every outbound message and notification. We manage a large-scale serverless communication service that sends millions of communications a day, ensuring deliveries at scale while maintaining an empathy-driven consumer experience.


Role Summary


As a Senior Engineer I on the Communications team, you will be a key technical contributor responsible for developing and extending our communication infrastructure. You will apply strong analytical skills to solve complex challenges involving distributed systems and microservices. You will be expected to deliver high-quality, maintainable code while ensuring our systems remain robust and scalable.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Technical Execution: Develop and maintain streaming services, microservices, and serverless architectures (primarily AWS Lambda) to support high-volume messaging.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers, and fellow engineers to translate business requirements into technical implementations.
  • System Health: Recognize and articulate technical debt, planning and executing clear paths to address these challenges while participating in on-call rotations to ensure production stability.
  • Code Excellence: Lead by example through detailed code reviews, advocating for best practices, and ensuring thorough testing of all work.
  • Innovation: Stay current with industry trends and introduce innovative techniques or emerging technologies that provide technical value.
  • Mentorship: Provide technical guidance to other engineers.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience.
  • Technical Proficiency
  • Significant experience with Golang (preferred).
  • Expertise in distributed serverless architecture and cloud platforms (AWS Lambda preferred).
  • Experience with infrastructure tools like Terraform & Github Actions
  • Proficiency in, Docker, or other container orchestration platforms.
  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture, data structures, and software design patterns.
  • Leadership & Communication:
  • Ability to facilitate meetings with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of taking end-to-end responsibility for complex initiatives.
  • Experience making well-reasoned design trade-offs and contributing to technical roadmaps.
  • Problem Solving: Proactively identifies inefficient code and anticipates potential breaks before they occur.
