Role Description
As a Senior Enterprise Monitoring Systems Administrator at BAE Systems, you will be a core part of our team driving the availability, performance, and security of our enterprise systems and applications. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cutting-edge monitoring technologies, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless operations.
- Provide technical guidance and oversight to junior administrators, ensuring best practices in monitoring systems administration.
- Develop and implement comprehensive monitoring strategies, aligning with organizational goals and objectives.
- Lead the troubleshooting and resolution of complex enterprise monitoring-related issues, collaborating with other senior administrators and stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain advanced reporting and analytics capabilities, providing insights to stakeholders and driving informed decision-making.
- Design and implement alerting and notification systems, ensuring timely and effective communication to stakeholders.
- Plan and execute regular monitoring system checks, maintenance tasks, and upgrades, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Collaborate with customers to understand their monitoring needs, providing tailored solutions and support.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce monitoring procedures, configurations, and best practices, ensuring compliance with organizational standards.
- Participate in on-call rotation, providing 24/7 support for critical monitoring issues and incidents.
Qualifications
- Degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalency of 4+ years of experience in monitoring and IT operations, with a focus on enterprise-level monitoring and a proven track record of leading monitoring initiatives.
- Strong desire to learn and grow in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to quickly absorb and apply new concepts and technologies.
- Willingness to take on new challenges and responsibilities.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Advanced understanding of IT concepts and terminology (e.g. networking, systems administration, etc.).
