Job Description
Role Description
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a critically important member of the Field Medical Affairs customer-facing team that supports the safe and effective use of psychiatric products by providing timely, scientifically balanced, evidence-based, non-promotional information in response to urgent unsolicited requests from healthcare professionals, patients, caregivers, and payers.
This position delivers industry-leading services, including:
- Responding to product information requests in response to medical questions received
- Utilizing medical information and MSL skills to identify, research, and critically evaluate medical literature
- Handling requests across multiple channels and platforms (phone, email, CRM, chat, etc.)
- Making accurate assessments regarding what information needs to be obtained
- Ensuring good documentation, high quality, and excellent customer service
- Joining and supporting the field medical team with occasional field engagements as needed
- Providing MSL and field medical support at medical congresses
- Staffing scientific medical affairs booths
- Conducting miscellaneous projects such as market and competitive product research, operational and process improvements, field team training, and field liaison support
This is a one-year contract that will mostly be working from home with up to 15% travel to conferences. Must be located on the West Coast.
Qualifications
- Advanced or terminal healthcare degree (preferred PharmD or PhD)
- MSL psychiatry experience preferred and excellent verbal/written communication skills
- Hands-on clinical experience in psychiatry to enhance understanding of patient care and treatment approaches
- Technology proficiency in Medical Information databases, Microsoft Office, and video conference platforms
- Therapeutic expertise in psychiatry, with a focus on schizophrenia
- Ability to critically evaluate medical literature
- Experience in Drug Information or a specialty area, particularly in schizophrenia or other psychiatric conditions
