Role Description

The ACLU of Texas invites undergraduate and graduate students to apply for an internship in all departments during summer 2026. Individuals passionate about civil liberties who are interested in developing skills in the social justice space and policy in the local and state context will find this internship as a rewarding learning experience.

• Work within the Executive department to strengthen quarterly strategic reporting
• Improve cross-departmental data synthesis
• Support outcome-focused strategic plan reporting

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise summaries
• Interest in strategy frameworks, logic models, or performance measurement
• Comfort using AI tools responsibly for structured analysis and summarization
• Ability to work independently and manage projects through completion
• Strong written communication skills
• Interest in nonprofit strategy, public policy, organizational management, or governance
• A commitment to civil liberties, civil rights, and social justice
• Commitment to the mission of the ACLU of Texas

Requirements

• Internships are part-time, requiring a minimum commitment of hours per week
• Prefer part-time interns to commit to full workdays (i.e., two eight-hour days rather than four four-hour days)
• Internships are offered on a remote basis only
• Houston-based interns are welcome to work in headquarters located in Downtown Houston

Benefits

• Compensation for this role is $17/hour
• Stipend: $3,400 for fall, $4,250 for summer
