Job Description
Role Description
Ensures optimal use of clinical staff in order to provide high quality and cost effective care.
- Coordinates, organizes, and prepares work schedules for nursing units in the Float Pool to ensure appropriate staffing.
- Collaborates with House Supervisor and Unit Managers regarding staffing and scheduling to resolve issues proactively.
- Assigns centralized float pool staff daily according to census.
- Communicates with Unit Managers to understand and address staffing needs.
- Monitors staffing and census levels routinely in cooperation with the Staffing Analyst and alerts units when adjustments are needed.
- Receives and records call-ins and adjusts staffing accordingly.
- Communicates any observed issues with Unit Managers if office staff have difficulty filling unfilled shifts.
- Manages timecards and payroll for the Float Pool staff.
- Works in collaboration with House Supervisors, PPC, and management teams to ensure resources meet patient staffing needs.
- Updates shift assignments per staffing plans.
- Maintains unit staffing information, including census and acuities or adjustments in staffing plans.
- Receives absences for all nursing departments.
- Provides system staffing plan through reporting and Excel spreadsheet.
- Once fully trained, this position would be working remotely.
