Job Description

The Specialist, Sales (Education) is responsible for driving sales in their territory by leveraging deep knowledge of Clinical Assessment products to provide tailored solutions to customers.  As thought leaders, they help clients adopt technology-enhanced assessment tools, drawing on professional expertise from formal education and field experience. 

The Assessment Consultant (Education) serves as a trusted resource for Special Education directors, school administrators, and other K-12 professionals, providing expertise in standardized assessments and digital solutions. By combining educational knowledge with consultative support, this role assists district clinicians, leaders, and staff in identifying students’ needs through screening, evaluations, and assessments to promote better learning outcomes. Success in this position involves driving growth in educational solutions and achieving goals by recognizing opportunities and delivering comprehensive Pearson Clinical solutions. Focused on the US K-12 market, the consultant partners with school psychologists, SLP’s, OT’s and administration to ensure solutions are tailored to the unique needs of students and schools.

The main duties of an Assessment Consultant (Education) include achieving annual territory revenue targets, anticipating customer needs, providing pre-sales consultation, supporting technology integration, and guiding customers through decision-making.  A successful Assessment Consultant in this role will expand business and achieve sales targets by uncovering new, impactful opportunities and delivering high-quality consultation throughout the customer relationship.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver on assigned revenue goals through consulting with customers and executing comprehensive sales plans with a focus on products, training, and licensing solutions.

  • Uncover growth opportunities in K-12 Education Market within assigned territory. 

  • Facilitate customer consultations, both virtually and in person, to present product information, demonstrations, and comprehensive solutions.

  • Attend national and regional conferences and events to meet customers, gain market feedback, and generate sales opportunities.

  • Be knowledgeable of market trends, industry news, and competitive landscape.

  • Work collaboratively with Sales, Marketing, Product Management, and other internal business teams to further drive growth in territory
     

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven track record of previous sales success.  Asks for the sale!

  • Prior industry experience OR knowledge of clinical/school assessment or psychometrics is an asset.  

  • Experience building relationships within an assigned territory to expand sales.

  • Prior experience with Salesforce or other comparable CRM platforms for effective pipeline management and forecasting.

  • Understanding of market sales cycle, and effectively navigates steps in sales process with multiple stakeholders. 

  • Team player with a positive attitude and commitment to exceeding sales objectives.

  • Forward-thinking, strategic focus on Technology sales and growth within assigned market (Digital assessment, iPad delivery, etc.)

  • Experience and familiarity with AI, and a bias towards implementation in the role.

  • Well organized, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to deliver formal presentations to customers and at state/national conferences.

Travel

  • The position requires a willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.  The position also requires that the individual be comfortable in a relatively independent working environment, with primary contact with team members being virtual. 

     

Reporting Structure 

  • Assessment Consultant (Education) will report to the designated Regional Sales Manager. 

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York State, New York City, Vermont, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:   

Minimum full-time salary range is a base of $86,000.
