Job Description

At Headlands Research, we are dedicated to enhancing clinical trial delivery within our communities. As a leading network of advanced clinical trial sites, we leverage cutting-edge technology and exceptional support services to broaden outreach and participation. Founded in 2018, our rapidly growing company currently operates 20+ sites across the US and Canada, with plans for further expansion.

The Role:

As an Account Manager, you will be the architect for discovering and securing new business within the pharmaceutical "white space"—the untapped therapeutic areas, emerging biotech startups, and overlooked drug development pipelines. You will bridge the gap between our clinical research site network and pharmaceutical sponsors by identifying unmet needs and positioning our sites as the primary solution for their next-generation trials.

Responsibilities:

  • White Space Mining: Proactively research and identify "white space" opportunities, including emerging therapeutic categories, orphan diseases, and novel drug molecules not currently served by our network.
  • Strategic Therapeutic Area Planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive plan to penetrate high-potential, under-saturated pharma and biotech accounts in assigned therapeutic areas
  • Consultative Solution Selling: Act as a consultative partner by analyzing a sponsor’s pipeline and demonstrating how our site network’s unique capabilities solve their specific recruitment and data quality challenges.
  • Relationship Architecture: Establish and nurture high-level relationships with C-suite executives and Clinical Operations heads at pharmaceutical firms.
  • Proposal & Pipeline Management: Lead the RFP (Request for Proposal) process for new opportunities, ensuring a high volume but tailored, data-driven proposals that highlight our network's differentiators. Actively manage a high volume of leads with timely follow up.
  • Market Intelligence: Monitor industry trends, funding mechanisms (especially for small/emerging biotech), and competitor activity to maintain a first-mover advantage.

Requirements:

  • Industry Expertise: Minimum 1–5 years in clinical research business development, site operations or pharma account management.
  • Analytical Prowess: Ability to interpret complex clinical data and market reports to identify "white space" gaps.
  • Strategic Networking: Skills to advance us as "partner of choice" within the pharma/biotech ecosystem.
  • Communication: Exceptional presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific value propositions to diverse stakeholders both internally and externally.

Tools & Technology

  • Expertise in CRM systems (e.g., Devana) for tracking funnel activity and account health.
  • Proficiency in Market Intelligence Tools for tracking drug pipelines and NIH/FDA trial databases. (eg. Zymewire & others)

Type:  Regular Full-time Employee
Schedule:  Mondays through Fridays
Location:  Fully Remote, some travel required
Reports to:  Chief Business Development Officer
Benefits:  Our benefits package for full-time employees includes health insurance (medical, dental, and vision), Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), Paid Time Off (PTO), a variety of disability, accident, and life insurance options, as well as many more.
