Role Description

As a Backend Engineer in the Connectors team, you build the integration layer that lets our customers plug Camunda into the systems, services, and AI tooling they rely on every day without writing custom glue code. Your work makes it possible for teams to orchestrate end-to-end workflows, enrich them with AI, and connect new systems quickly and safely as their landscape changes.

  • Design, build, and maintain Connectors that integrate Camunda with external systems, APIs, and AI services.
  • Evolve the Connector SDK and Runtime that developers use to write, test, and run their own Connectors at scale.
  • Own and operate Connectors in SaaS and self-managed environments, including observability, incident handling, and hands-on support for internal and external users.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience writing production code in modern Java.
  • 3+ years working with the Spring Framework (Spring Boot or similar).
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems architecture (e.g., microservices, messaging, failure modes).
  • Basic understanding of Kubernetes and containerized workloads.

Requirements

  • A curious mind with a high bar for code quality, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
  • Willingness to learn, use, and improve Camunda as part of your day-to-day work.
  • A strong customer focus when designing features, handling incidents, and supporting users in production environments.

Benefits

  • Competitive, fair, and transparent compensation based on location.
  • Equity through our Virtual Stock Option Plan (VSOP).
  • Remote & Flexible work options with home office budget and flexible time off.
  • Health & Wellbeing access to tailored healthcare and mental wellbeing resources.
  • Professional Growth funding for self-driven learning: courses, certifications, books.
