Job Description
Role Description
Veritone is seeking an individual for the role of Staff QA Engineer to join our engineering organization and take ownership of test automation strategy and quality across our product suite. You'll be a hands-on technical leader who writes production-quality automation code, mentors other QA engineers and partners directly with Product and Engineering to embed quality throughout the development lifecycle. At the Staff level, you'll have significant influence over our QA architecture, tooling decisions and cross-team quality standards.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable end-to-end test automation frameworks using Cypress and comparable tools
- Own test coverage strategy for new features and regression suites across web, API and integration layers
- Partner with engineering leads to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.)
- Help define and enforce QA standards, best practices and coverage criteria across engineering teams
- Lead risk-based test planning and prioritization for complex, multi-service releases
- Mentor junior and mid-level QA engineers through code reviews, pairing and documentation
- Advocate for testability in design reviews and sprint planning — shifting quality left
- Drive cross-functional QA initiatives, tooling evaluations and process improvements org-wide
Qualifications
- 5+ years of QA engineering experience with a strong automation focus
- Deep hands-on expertise with Cypress, Playwright or a comparable modern test automation framework
- Proficiency in at least one programming language — JavaScript/TypeScript strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of REST API testing using tools such as Postman
- Experience integrating automated test suites into CI/CD workflows
- Strong grasp of testing methodologies: unit, integration, end-to-end, regression, exploratory and performance testing
- Excellent debugging skills and ability to diagnose failures across full-stack systems
Requirements
- Experience with enterprise SaaS or AI/ML-powered products
- Familiarity with performance/load testing tools such as k6 or JMeter
- Exposure to cloud infrastructure and microservices architectures (AWS, GCP, Kubernetes)
- Experience in regulated or public-sector environments (gov-tech, law enforcement, compliance-heavy verticals)
- Contributions to open source QA tooling or internal platform/tooling teams
Benefits
Our company provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetics.
(Colorado & California Only*): The Annual salary listed for the position is a range of $110,000-$120,000.
