Job Description
Role Description
This role involves directing cross-functional teams and influencing senior leadership to adopt new ideas and approaches as a Director Actuarial Services at UnitedHealth Group.
- Provide actuarial direction and strategy to balance growth and profitability goals
- Provide medical and dental actuarial support to our Public Sector Premier Accounts
- Lead actuarial analyses in support of benefit strategy, trend projections and network optimization for UMR accounts
- Build relationships with external consulting partners and client actuarial teams to benefit our mutual clients
- Lead internal and external presentations, translating highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences
You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week. Preference will be given to those who are willing and able to work during Eastern or Central time zone business hours.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience
- 8+ years of Actuarial experience, or similar consulting, finance or analytical work experience
- Experience with actuarial concepts
- Experience working directly with medical and dental benefits
- Advanced or higher level of proficiency with Excel
- Intermediate or higher level of proficiency with PowerPoint
Requirements
- ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) or FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) designation, or equivalent work experience
- Experience working in the health care industry, specifically with health benefits consulting or strategy for large group ASO accounts
- Experience with public sector and/or large group accounts
- Familiarity with Power BI, Access, VBA, and/or SQL (Structured Query Language)
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities
- Demonstrated excellent quantitative, problem-solving and analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and work independently
- Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize tasks among competing deadlines
- Demonstrated solid project management and organizational skills
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on communicating complex information to non-technical audiences
