Role Description
The Director, Operations will be a leader focused on balancing daily execution, long-term team development and organizational strategy. This will require a detailed understanding of all operational functions within the Operations teams and team-level functions within all branches.
- Maximize impact in delivery of Team Rubicon's services.
- Inspire, lead, and manage a growing team of full-time employees and Greyshirts (volunteers).
- Build influence and rapport with strategic governmental and non-governmental partners.
- Foster an award-winning culture of inclusiveness and diversity.
- Take ownership of the annual budget for training, engagement, and operations.
- Develop team performance goals and administer performance management.
- Drive leadership engagement to mobilize, inspire and engage Greyshirts volunteers and Greyshirt Volunteer Leaders to increase participation in disaster response efforts.
- Innovate disaster response, constantly seeking ways to improve operational support.
- As needed, provide EOC support and disaster response coordination across relevant agencies.
Qualifications
- 10-15 years of relevant professional experience in the disaster response, emergency management, military, or first responder fields.
- Proven record of personnel management experience such as leading teams, developing staff for leadership roles, and promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Proficient with technology tools and in remote working for communicating and coordinating with a large network of TR staff members, Greyshirts (volunteers), and external stakeholders.
- Successful past performance in leading volunteers is highly desired.
Requirements
- This is a full-time; REMOTE position and can be based out of the following locations: Pennsylvania (PA), New York (NY), New Jersey (NJ), Virginia (VA), North Carolina (NC), Georgia (GA), Florida (FL), Michigan (MI), Ohio (OH), or Texas (TX).
- Provides a flexible & non-traditional work schedule (relocation expenses not provided).
- Evening and weekend schedule supporting leadership meetings, video conferences, events, and operations.
- Local Travel: Reliable transportation is required. The person filling this position will be expected to travel within their local area to support ongoing efforts.
- Other Travel: At least 30% non-local travel to support broader organizational activities focused within the assigned territory.
