Job Description

As a Coder, you will ensure precise communication with insurance companies so that services are documented correctly and payments are processed efficiently. Accurately translate patients’ medical records into standardized codes for diagnoses and treatments. Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational standards. Combine accuracy and attention to detail with a strong knowledge of coding standards and healthcare regulations. Communicate clearly with providers and staff to ensure claims are processed correctly and on time. Abstract and assign valid CPT ICD-9/10 and HCPCS codes to ensure appropriate reimbursement. Responsible for less complex coding with oversight. Accurately abstract information from service documentation and assign appropriate codes into billing systems. Communicate professionally with providers, practice management, and other stakeholders. Work encounters in the coding work queue or task lists in a timely manner. Meet or exceed organizational coding production and quality standards. Understand and apply regulatory changes and stay current with coding updates (e.g., NCCI and MUE edits).

Job Requirements

  • High School Graduate General Studies and 1-3 years of physician coding experience, upon hire.
  • High School GED General Studies and 1-3 years of physician coding experience, upon hire.
  • Previous Electronic Health Record experience, upon hire (preferred).
  • Certified Coding Specialist, upon hire (preferred).
  • Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based, upon hire (preferred).
  • Certified Professional Coder, upon hire (preferred).
