Job Description

As a Business Analyst Consultant for the Quality Performance Analytics team within Optum Health, you will be working with data that contributes to clinical quality gap closures and the improvement of Medicare Stars & HEDIS measures. The position is responsible for: Creating business requirements Completing in-depth analysis Owning the development of project plans Being the liaison between the business and our development team Recommending areas of improvement and enhancement This position will partner with stakeholders to understand business requirements for the development of dashboards, decision aids, and business case analysis to support Optum Health. Position responsibilities include supporting data management & analytics solutions: Consulting with users to evaluate business & reporting requirements Identifying operating procedures Evaluating existing or proposed systems Preparing detailed specifications for reporting programs Creating reporting programs as needed Developing and maintaining production & retention of summary reports for distribution Scope includes Stars and clinical quality improvement measures for Optum Health. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week. Primary Responsibilities: Oversees and manages the operational aspects of assigned projects Maintains and analyzes project schedule and prepares regular status reports for management and key stakeholders Leads complex projects that require cross-functional coordination Works closely with all departments to accomplish mutual goals and strategies Leads and manages full project life cycle including creation, design, specification, development, implementation, and overall change management Owns the research and in-depth analysis of complex requests Partners with key stakeholders to ensure projects are aligned with business goals Identifies, develops, and presents recommendations; leads implementation of approved solutions Coordinates and facilitates stakeholder meetings; prepares and issues agendas with appropriate backup materials; takes minutes and provides follow-up correspondence Creates communication plan around new reporting and enhancements Manages issues to track defects and production issues through to completion Serves as a mentor to other business analysts within the team Performs all other related duties as assigned Works with others to interpret, develop & document report specifications Evaluates data and reports for accuracy and validity Acts as a subject matter expert, consultant, and resource for team and others Develops processes and tools, and teaches/supports/facilitates use of data by other team members Proactively identifies and seeks out resources and information Adapts to changing environment & requirements; accountable for deliverables

Job Requirements

  • 4+ years of reporting, data or business analysis experience
  • 2+ years of project lead experience
  • Experience with process mapping methodology and creating process maps
  • Proven possession of solid analytical/statistical skills used in evaluating and analyzing data
  • Proven advanced PC skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, Outlook, Share Point)
  • Proven ability to prioritize and multi-task in high volume workload situations
  • 2+ years experience utilizing SQL
  • Experience in a managed care environment
  • Experience in Medicare Advantage Stars / HEDIS data
  • Rally or similar task management experience
  • Experience using Tableau or other BI tools to pull reports
  • Experience with Call Center operations
  • Proven excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven highly analytical, curious, and creative
  • Proven comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment
