Job Description

• Perform mid-level FOIA processing with minimal supervision • Review and interpret FOIA requests • Conduct or validate searches • Apply exemptions • Prepare releasable records • Ensure responses meet statutory and VA requirements • Provide technical accuracy, consistency, and support to junior staff

Job Requirements

Minimum of two (2) years of FOIA request processing within the last 36 months
Comprehensive knowledge of FOIA exemptions, request types, timelines, and fee categories
Ability to analyze and interpret FOIA requests and determine tasking and search requirements
Skilled in conducting or validating searches for responsive records
Proficient in applying redaction software accurately and documenting exemption decisions
Strong written communication skills for drafting responses and summaries
Must be a U.S. citizen
Ability to pass the Veterans Administration background investigation
Minimum Education Level - associate degree with FOIA-related training preferred
