Job Description

• Serve as a subject matter authority for payroll operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws. • Oversee and process complex payroll transactions, adjustments, and reconciliations. • Conduct detailed audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance. • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and third-party vendors to resolve escalated payroll issues. • Support tax filings, year-end processing, and regulatory reporting requirements. • Maintain and update payroll process documentation and standard operating procedures. • Analyze payroll data, identify trends, and recommend process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency. • Test and implement system enhancements, upgrades, or new payroll functionality in collaboration with HRIS or IT. • Provide training, guidance, and support to payroll team members. • Respond to complex employee and management inquiries regarding payroll policies and practices. • Stay current on payroll guidelines, tax laws, and regulatory updates to support compliance.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including multi-state or multi-country payrolls
  • Prevailing wage experience strongly desired
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or progress toward certification preferred
  • Deep understanding of multi-state payroll processing, wage and hour laws, and payroll tax regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities; able to handle multiple deadlines
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, SAP) and advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive payroll data with confidentiality and integrity
  • High level of professionalism
  • Prior experience leading or mentoring payroll team members is a plus
  • Experience working with large employee populations and third-party payroll providers preferred.
