Job Description
• Provides operational leadership in collaboration with Regional Senior Coding Managers by monitoring daily coding activities, assigning workloads to vendors, and tracking team performance against productivity and accuracy goals.
• Ensures quality and compliance by adhering to coding guidelines, participating in quality and compliance audits, and developing, implementing, and reporting on corrective remediation plans.
• Supports strategic and process improvement initiatives by maintaining and developing coding playbooks, workflows, and automation to reduce charge lag and address inefficiencies or system issues.
• Partners with business development teams to monitor new business integrations and ensure coding workflows support operational and revenue objectives.
• Monitors and reports on coding KPIs, analyzes data to identify trends affecting charge lag or revenue throughput, and develops data-driven workplans to improve performance.
• Collaborates with Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI), IT, providers, billing, and other RCM functions to ensure operational alignment and seamless workflows.
• Partners with Coding Quality and Education teams to provide ongoing training and education to coders and providers on coding changes, best practices, and compliance standards.
• Works with interoperability and IT teams to enhance EHR and coding systems, supporting automation and process efficiency.
• Applies in-depth knowledge of anesthesia coding, including CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and ASA coding, as well as Medicare, Medicaid, Workers’ Compensation, anesthesia, and acute pain billing guidelines.
• Provides essential RCM process support to meet client needs and maintains 100% retention of assigned RCM clients.
• Demonstrates strong collaboration and interpersonal skills with staff, physicians, and external stakeholders, prioritizing work effectively and operating independently with minimal supervision.
• Maintains professionalism, a positive disposition, and tolerance for diverse viewpoints in a dynamic, high-stakes environment.
Job Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in billing/collections/coding experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, or equivalent commensurate professional experience required.
- 10+ years of Revenue Cycle Management experience preferred.
- Proficient at team management.
- Knowledge of RCM billing and collections systems preferred.
- Basic visual skillset.
- Proactive, creative, and efficient in identifying issues, understanding, and proposing solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse personality types and communicate professionally with all levels of management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Professional coding certification (I.e., CPC, CCS-P) required.
- Professional fee anesthesia experience required.
- Proficient in hospital electronic health records and coding documentation guidelines.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
