Job Purpose/Summary
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for company-wide accounting and financial functions. The position will also assist in ad-hoc financial projects as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
Primary
- Accounts Payable
- Collect invoices
- Enter invoices into the accounting system
- Review and post invoices
- Pay bills using payment system
- Ensure all bills are paid within terms
- Input new vendors and manage information for current vendors
- Enter expense reports on behalf of the Senior Management Team
- Accounts Receivable
- Work with the project management team to issue client invoices
- Ensure invoices are done correctly and reflect work completed
- Set up new clients as needed and review contracts to determine accurate invoicing schedules
- Accounting and Finance
- Create and post accurate journal entries for the company’s financial transactions and assist with the month-end close process
- Support the company’s annual tax and audit processes, which includes assisting, investigating, and resolving any audit findings
- Support the company’s annual and quarterly budgeting and forecasting processes
- Support the accounting team with balance sheet reconciliations and processes
- Support the CFO with ad-hoc monthly financial reporting and analytics (cash flow, monthly variance reports, etc.)

- Provide project-related support and services as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- 3+ years of finance and accounting experience
- Thorough knowledge of US GAAP
- Experience in US government contracting preferred
- Experience using an ERP system such as Unanet or Costpoint preferred
- Superb mathematical skills
- Proficient or better in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to adapt and learn, create, and implement new processes and systems
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in remote environment with little direct supervision
- Eligible to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance – U.S. Citizenship required.
Working conditions
- This is a remote position.
- Employees may be called upon to participate in in-person meetings, trainings, or company functions at Knowmadics offices or other designated locations. Travel in support of business operations may also be required, and employees are expected to comply with these obligations as part of their position.
Physical requirements
Prolonged periods of remaining in a stationary position at a desk and working on a computer.
