Role Description

This role offers a unique opportunity to drive business growth in the life sciences consulting sector, working closely with senior leadership to expand client relationships and revenue streams. The Business Development Manager will lead the full sales cycle, from prospecting and discovery to proposal development, negotiations, and contract closure. This position involves strategic engagement with pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, and healthcare clients, while collaborating with internal subject matter experts to craft tailored solutions. The role provides autonomy, visibility, and the chance to contribute to shaping long-term growth strategies for a high-impact consulting practice. Travel across the U.S. is expected to foster client relationships and attend industry events.

  • Develop and execute business development strategies to generate, qualify, and close new consulting and staffing engagements across life sciences clients.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline aligned with revenue targets, driving long-term account growth and repeat engagements.
  • Lead client discovery meetings, deliver tailored presentations, and showcase consulting capabilities and value propositions.
  • Own proposal development, including RFP/RFI responses, SOWs, pricing, and contract negotiations.
  • Position the company as a trusted small business subcontractor to prime contractors, CROs, CMOs, and large consulting firms.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and regulatory drivers to identify new business opportunities.
  • Maintain CRM documentation and sales metrics, providing leadership with accurate pipeline visibility.
  • Manage and mentor business development team members, fostering a collaborative environment for professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • 5–10 years of business development, B2B sales, or account management experience within pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, or healthcare sectors, including at least 2 years in a management capacity.
  • Demonstrated success closing complex, consultative deals and achieving or exceeding revenue targets.
  • Strong experience in proposal writing and managing the full sales cycle.
  • In-depth understanding of life sciences environments, including GxP, Quality, Regulatory, MSAT, or Clinical Operations.
  • Proven ability to engage senior-level stakeholders with confidence and credibility.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, highly self-directed, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, lean environment.
  • Proficiency with CRM tools and LinkedIn for pipeline development and account-based selling.
  • Willingness to travel across the U.S. for client meetings, conferences, and networking.
