Role Description

As a key member of the Finance team, this role will assist in managing the contract approval process throughout the organization including:

  • Contract review
  • Routing
  • Visibility
  • Execution
  • Organization
  • Filing

Will consult with outside legal when necessary. Assist in managing state and local jurisdiction compliance such as:

  • Business registrations
  • Various state taxes (withholding, unemployment, PFL accounts)
  • Acquiring and renewing sales tax exemptions
  • Filing of annual reports
  • Maintaining charitable solicitation registrations and registered agents in all states as required

This role will report to the CFO.

Qualifications

  • 6-10+ years of progressive experience in contracts management, compliance, or related fields
  • Bachelor’s degree required; related advanced degrees or certifications a plus
  • Experience in procurement and negotiating contracts or agreements
  • Ability to translate legal and compliance concepts into clear, practical guidance for staff at all levels
  • Highly organized, systems-oriented, and adept at building processes in a growing organization
  • Exercises professional judgment that supports equal access, community engagement, and effective communication across diverse populations
  • A commitment to SHP’s mission and values

Requirements

  • Review and manage contracts and agreements with contractors, consultants, vendors, school districts, community partners, government entities, and funders to ensure clarity, compliance, and risk mitigation for SHP
  • Draft, revise, and maintain standardized agreement templates, including contractor and consultant agreements, educational and community partner MOUs, data-sharing agreements, and service agreements
  • Coordinate with external legal counsel on complex or high-risk contract matters as needed
  • Collaborate with the Development and Finance Grants team to review grant agreements, subawards, and funder requirements
  • Develop and standardize procurement guidelines for new vendor and consultant engagements
  • Lead annual policy reviews and staff trainings to promote consistent adherence to organizational policies
  • Manage governmental registrations and compliance reporting
  • Maintain relationships with external registered agents in states where required
  • Obtain and maintain state sales tax exemptions where applicable
  • Support the CFO with additional responsibilities as needed
