We’re seeking a Data Engineer Senior to join our Scientific Modeling, Application, Visualization, Computational Science, Software, and Statistical Support (SMAVCS4) team to support the Environmental Protection Agency. Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention (OCSPP), a scientific organization working to support Agency decisions by providing solutions-driven research to rapidly evaluate the potential human health and environmental risks due to exposures to environmental chemicals and ensure the integrity of the freshwater environment and its capacity to support human well-being.
MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
The Data Engineer requires in-depth knowledge of developing and managing data analysis pipelines, including database development and statistical software programming for analyzing complex data. The successful candidate will administer and manage MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB databases to maintain optimal performance and data integrity. They will collaborate with backend teams and application development teams to design and implement ETL/ELT processes and optimize them to support EPA data needs. They will be responsible for designing and implementing highly optimized data models to ensure efficient data processing and retrieval.

● Role requirements: Structured Query Language (SQL), Not only SQL (NoSQL), agile methodologies; ETL platform such as Pentaho and Informatica; Data Management & Data Modeling
